Baby Emmery is the proud daughter of Sheri and Todd. She is a month old and is just a bundle of sweetness. She was a pleasure to photograph, staying awake long enough for me to get some shots with her eyes open, and then would quickly fall sleep. Holding her took me back to when Finley was born and how amazing it felt to be a new mom, it was a nice familiar feeling..especially with Fin coming up on a year old, it’s hard for me to imagine that she was once that small!

I did some family photos of Terri lynn and Justin and their 3 gorgeous children..Zander, Lila and Rachel. It was requested that we do the pictures in their home( which is of coarse my favorite place to shoot, in the comfort of your own home!) I love that these are proper pictures( posed to a degree) but at the same time we kept the stuffiness out of them. These were mostly shot while the kids were being themselves…running around..in between snack times and wardrobe changes. The biggest perk out of all of this is that Terri Lynn and Justin didn’t have the stress of getting 3 kids out the door to “go get pictures taken”…they just waited for me to arrive. Thank you so much for giving me the pleasure of photographing your babies!

This is Catherine’s sister( from the previous post) Charlotte…she is usually full of smiles( call her perma-smile) however on this day she decided to be serious…she basically stared into my camera the whole time as if she was intrigured….probably wondering why this girl was about 2 feet away from her face with a camera! She’s incredibly photogenic with gorgeous eyes( her and catherine share this blessed trait along with their eyelashes!). Charlotte is 10 weeks old and was prefect in front of the camera. It wasn’t hard to get her attention at all and she was a pleasure to photograph.

To have a successful shoot I believe you must do 2 things, give the client a variety of pictures( and lots of them), and capture their childs personality on film…in this case it was digital. Meet Catherine, the most adorable little girl. She loves to wear odd socks, she’s very entertaining and she told me before she went down for her nap( after the shoot) that she loved me. I mean, how sweet is that?? OH and she loves to do the rock and roll “horns”..lol. Kids at this age are just so silly, they’ll do anything as long as it’s entertaining. They love to talk, dance and jump around so why make them suffer by sitting them down and asking them to pose in front of a backdrop. The best shots come from when they’re just being themselves!

Suzanne and I spent most of our time on the front street of North Sydney for this shoot….got some amazing shots even though it was -10….the lighting was perfect and so was the subject…it was a perfect winter day for taking pictures….did I mention it was -10 outside? you’d never know it tho huh? These pics are on the large scale because the smaller size doesn’t do them justice

So I thought it was time to do a post about the hardcover books that I offer with one of my packages. I have samples of the real deal should you want to see one. They are not limited to what you see here, you can totally customize your book by going with an image wrap book, with any color paper containing a linen textured page, or a canvas material book shown in the many colors that are offered without a textured page. These books are beautiful, containing thick pages, tightly bound together with a hard cover that come in a slip case.

So the holidays are here and for me, that means some time off to spend with my family and friends. This year we have 2 additions to our family, my little girl Finley and my sister’s little girl Daphnee, so of coarse we all think this is going to be the best Christmas yet!! This will be the start of new traditions and having even more meaningful holidays. I remember waking up on Christmas morning, my mom was the one who passed out presents while my dad( who is also a photographer) took the pictures…he’d find a comfortable spot on the floor to document wonderful memories for us..he was the picture taker and mom was the present giver…this year I get to document our first Christmas with Finley. Christmas is my favorite time of year and now that we have started a family…well…it means even more to me now.

Lisa is a client of mine who wanted to get some christmas photos of her growing brood! This year they have a new doggie named buddy who decided to join in….it’s a strange thing, shooting children because you never know what you’re going to get…you go into the shoot with these ideas and you never really think about ” what if the child doesn’t want to get their picture taken?” it’s never a thought….you just work around it…I say all of this because Madison usually doesn’t want anything to do with the camera but this year, she was diffferent…she was all too happy to get her pictrue taken which of coarse makes momma very happy…Madison and Nolan are beyond cute and I looks forward to photographing them everythime we book a shoot

A couple of weeks ago Kenny, Jillian and I (with their kids in tow) went to Peter’s field park in Westmount for some family photos. Kole is 2 and Kohen is 5 months( and the size of my 9 month old!) so it was strange for me to shoot pics of this big baby but he doesn’t sit up yet..haha. Aside from being gorgeous, Kole is a very curous little boy and Kohen, well he was asleep for most of the shoot…but that didn’t stop us from getting some great shots! 

Mark and Lisa wanted some family photos so I went to their place to shoot some pics of them and their cute little girl Emily. I came to know Lisa from shooting weddings at their B&B, they own and operate Annfield Manor in Bras d’Or and it’s a beautiful historic mansion with amazing grounds! They’ve added a new addition to the family…a beautiful horse named Kai so we included Kai in some shots too.
